Participants can explore:
Physics: rotational motion, centripetal force, momentum, balance, friction, and changes in speed.
Mathematics: diameter, radius, circumference, measurement, proportion, symmetry, and repeating patterns.
Engineering: hoop construction, material selection, skate mechanics, maintenance, and iterative problem-solving.
Technology: programmable LED hoops, light patterns, digital design, music, photography, video, and animation.
Art and Design: color, rhythm, composition, movement, performance, and personal expression.
My lessons use a design-thinking approach in which students imagine possibilities, construct or test ideas, evaluate the results, and revise their solutions. Mistakes become part of the creative process rather than something to fear.
